Cabinet Install Process
General Cabinet Install Items
- A customer representative is available to meet with the installer at the start of the job to give any jobsite specific instructions. We recommend that a customer representative meet with the installer every morning on the job and check in during the afternoon as well. Clear communication is critical for a successful cabinet install.
- Full accessibility to the site is established, including gravel pad or clear driveway.
- Clear access is available to all areas where cabinets are to be installed.
- Cabinet installers are to be the only trade working in the specific area. Additional trades are slated only for work in the areas where cabinet installation is not scheduled to occur. This shall remain in effect for the duration of the installation schedule.
- As a safety concern, homeowners are to stay out of the work area during construction. Additionally, it is difficult to work when someone is "hovering" in the work area. There will be ample opportunity to inspect the cabinets once the jobsite is clean and safe.
- No appliances, plumbing fixtures or any other construction supplies / equipment are to be in the designated work area.
- In the event of inclement weather, a covered area is available to set up tools and work.
- All jobsite readiness guidlines must be met as outlined on the TrueSource website.
Phase One Cabinet Install
- During phase one of the cabinet installation, the installer will install the cabinets, fillers and complete any needed appliance cut-outs.
- The cabinet installer will leave the jobsite in a "broom swept" condition.
- Debris will be placed in a designated area. Debris removal is not included in the standard install price. A quote can be given if debris removal is needed.
- The cabinets need to be inspected by the customer at the end of phase one. Details on how to inspect the cabinets and report a concern are detailed in our cabinet inspection process. It is important that the cabinets are inspected immediatly. Concerns not immediatly reported may not be covered under the warranty.
- If any damaged items are discovered, replacement parts will be ordered from the cabinet factory per the terms of the manufacturers warranty.
Contractor Responsibilities
- Once the first phase has been completed, the cabinet install will pause while additional work at the jobsite is performed.
- Countertops, back-splash and flooring need to be completed by the contractor before phase two of the cabinet installation is started.
- It is recomended that cabinet protection is applied. We recommend Cabinet Armor. Cabinet protection is not included in the standard install price. A quote can be given if cabinet protection is requested.
- Damaged created by others will not be covered under the warranty.
Phase Two Cabinet Install
- After the countertops, back-splash and flooring are completed, the cabinet install will resume.
- During phase two of the cabinet install, all of the cabinet trim will be installed. The cabinet trim consists of crown moulding, light rail moulding, base moulding, toekick and quarter round.
- Cabinet hardware will be installed and any needed door and drawer adjustments will be made.
- The cabinet installer will leave the jobsite in a "broom swept" condition.
- Debris will be placed in a designated area. Debris removal is not included in the standard install price. A quote can be given if debris removal is needed.
- The cabinets need to be inspected by the customer at the end of phase two.
Punch List Items
As much as we would like all jobs to be completed with no concerns, sometimes little things happen. If this occurs on your job, a "punch list" will be made. A punch list is the final work items remaining before a project is considered complete. We will communicate a plan and timeline to complete any punch list items.
Small Jobs
Small jobs may not be installed in phases as listed above. Small jobs typically combine phase one and phase two and the job is completed in one day. If your project is consided a small job, you will notified of during the planning phase of the process.
